We have provided chauffeur transport for racegoers attending the Qatar Goodwood Festival across previous seasons, collecting clients from their homes, hotels, and nearby airports, and delivering them directly to the enclosure of their choice — Richmond, Gordon, or Lennox.

Here is exactly what happens when you book

Crownwood Charters offers two booking options for the Qatar Goodwood Festival — hourly hire with a 5-hour minimum, or full day hire. We do not offer one-way transfers to Goodwood.  Every booking includes your outward journey, your chauffeur waiting throughout racing, and your return journey home — so there is no scramble for a taxi rank when the last race finishes. 

1. You book in advance. Tell us your pickup address, your chosen enclosure, your arrival time, and how many guests are travelling. We confirm your vehicle and named chauffeur within 48 hours.

2. On the day, your driver arrives at your door. At the agreed time, in a prepared luxury vehicle.

3. We navigate the approach roads. Goodwood Racecourse sits four miles north of Chichester, and the road network around the venue is tightly managed on raceday — we know the routes and the timing that work.

4. Your chauffeur waits all day. While you watch the racing, your enclosure's hospitality, or the Earl's Lawn social hub, your driver is on standby. 

5. We bring you home — straight from the racecourse. No queue for a taxi rank, no shuttle bus back to Chichester station. Just a direct, comfortable journey home.

Day by day: which Qatar Goodwood Festival day suits you?

Each day of the festival has its own character, and your chauffeur booking can be tailored to whichever day — or days — you're attending. See the days when you can book our cars for rent with driver service:

Tuesday 28 July — Goodwood Cup Day:

 the festival opener, headlined by the Group 1 Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup, followed by the traditional cricket match held in front of Goodwood House.

Wednesday 29 July — Sussex Stakes Day:

built around the Group 1 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes, known as the "Duel on the Downs" and one of the most prestigious mile races of the Flat season.

Thursday 30 July — Ladies' Day:

the festival's most stylish day, featuring the Markel Magnolia Cup charity race and the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes. This is consistently the busiest day for traffic and parking, and the one we'd recommend booking earliest. 

Friday 31 July — King George Day:

featuring the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes, the Coral Golden Mile, and the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes. 

Saturday 1 August — Stewards' Cup Day:

the festival's social finale, headlined by the Coral Stewards' Cup, one of the most competitive handicaps of the season.

Chauffeur, train, or driving yourself — what actually works best for Glorious Goodwood?

If you are still deciding how to get to the festival, here is an honest comparison.  Driving yourself means finding your own parking field, then walking from that field to the enclosure gates — and at the end of the day, joining everyone else trying to leave at once.

Goodwood Racecourse itself advises drivers to turn off their sat nav once they reach Chichester and follow the official signage instead, since direct routes can be misleading during event traffic. 

The train is a genuinely good option if you are travelling alone or as a couple with no luggage — Chichester station has regular services from London Victoria, with a shuttle bus connecting to the racecourse. It is less practical for groups, for anyone in heels or formalwear for Ladies' Day, or for anyone carrying a hamper for the Lennox Enclosure picnic spaces.

A pre-booked chauffeur removes both problems. You are dropped close to your enclosure entrance, your vehicle is exactly where you left it at the end of the day, and you are not relying on a shuttle bus timetable to get home. For groups, hospitality guests, or anyone wanting a stress-free return after a long day in the sun, it is the most reliable option of the three.

One thing most people don't know about getting to Goodwood

Goodwood Racecourse explicitly advises racegoers approaching by car to disregard their sat nav once they near Chichester, and to follow the event's own road signage instead — the direct route a sat nav suggests is often not the route the event's traffic management plan uses on raceday.

A chauffeur who already knows the approach roads removes this guesswork entirely, and avoids the back-road diversions that catch out first-time visitors.

No. Parking is not included in the price and is not arranged by Crownwood Charters. Parking at event venues is the client's own responsibility. At most events, where you are permitted to park depends on the type of ticket, pass, or hospitality package the client holds.

Do you sign NDAs for corporate bookings?

Yes. Non-disclosure agreements are available on request and are standard for our corporate and hospitality clients.
